Inspired by their hero, adventurers Alastair Humphreys and Leon McCarron attempt a journey of their own into the Empty Quarter. Their trip is hastily-planned and low budget: unable to afford camels they instead hope to drag a homemade steel cart (filled with 300kg of supplies) through the ferocious desert heat.

QUESTIONS WE ASK

VALLEY UPRISING:

STONEMASTERS

31 minutes

_______________________________________

Yosemite National Park in California - home to towering granite walls - is widely recognised as one of the world's best rock climbing areas. In the 1970's a legendary brash group of climbers known as the "Stonemasters" arrived in Yosemite Valley. They applied their talents to "free-climbing" - ascending the mega-routes in the Valley without artificial aids - and performed some of the most impressive athletic feats of any sport in that era. This portrait of the Stonemasters highlights their meteoric rise to fame and the Lynn Hill's legendary first "free" ascent of The Nose on El Capitan.
Note: This film contains coarse language and some drug use.
